The Radiance of Unity Iftar Gala

There are evenings that simply pass—and then there are evenings that stay with you.

On March 18, 2026, at the welcoming halls of Alan Emmott Centre, the Radiance of Unity Iftar Gala, hosted by CentreCanada in partnership with IDI, became one of those unforgettable gatherings. It was more than an event—it was a space where people came together with intention, choosing to slow down and truly be present for one another.

As the time to break the fast approached, the room filled with warmth, reflection, and a shared sense of purpose. Around the tables were elected officials, community leaders, youth, academics, faith leaders, and professionals—each bringing their own story, yet united by a common intention.

From Burnaby to Victoria, the table continues to grow each year. What began as a gathering is becoming a tradition—rooted in sincerity, connection, and trust.

We were deeply honoured by the presence of our distinguished guests:

Keynote Speaker

  • Philip Clayton

Members of Parliament (MPs)

  • Jake Sawatzky
  • Gurbux Saini

Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs)

  • Paul Choi
  • Rohini Arora
  • Katrina Chen

Mayor

  • Mike Hurley

Community & Faith Leaders

  • Zarghoona Wakil
  • Deborah Baker
  • Rev. Deborah Laing
  • Maggie Hosgood

Their presence was not only appreciated—it was meaningful. It reflected a shared belief that strong communities are built not only through leadership, but through moments of genuine connection.

At its heart, the message of the evening was simple:
being present for one another.

And that message was felt throughout the room—in conversations, in quiet reflections, and in the shared experience of sitting side by side.

To everyone who joined us—thank you.
Thank you for your presence, your time, and your openness.

To our partners at IDI, our volunteers, and everyone who contributed behind the scenes—thank you for making this evening possible.

With every gathering, the circle grows stronger. And we look forward to welcoming you again next year, as the table continues to expand and the spirit of unity continues to shine.
