Exploring Space and Building Community: NHSP Trip to H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

As part of the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP), CentreCanada organized a community trip to the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre on August 6, 2026.

The trip brought together 52 participants, including seniors aged 55 and over from Turkish and diverse cultural communities, as well as students and teachers from our Summer School program.

Participants travelled together by chartered bus and enjoyed an engaging day of learning, exploration, and community connection. The visit to the Space Centre offered an opportunity to discover more about space and science while spending meaningful time together with people from different generations and cultural backgrounds.

Following the visit, everyone gathered at CentreCanada for a pizza lunch. The gathering continued with conversations and interviews, giving participants an opportunity to share their thoughts, experiences, and favourite moments from the trip.

The event was more than just a visit to a science centre. It was an opportunity to learn, connect, share experiences, and strengthen our community across generations.

We are grateful to everyone who participated and helped make this NHSP community activity a memorable experience.
