A Special Day of Love and Gratitude for Our Mothers

On May 10, 2026, the CentreCanada Newcomer Society proudly hosted a heartfelt Mother’s Day celebration to honor the incredible mothers and women who are the heart of our community. The event brought families together for a day filled with meaningful reflections, joyful laughter, and warm connections, celebrating the strength, care, and dedication of women who inspire and support our community every day.

A Spiritual Start and Inspiring Insights

This was followed by an insightful presentation by our guest speaker on “Compassionate Inquiry and Motherhood,” offering our guests a deeply emotional and thought-provoking look into the journey of being a mother.

Celebrating Creativity and Excellence

We were thrilled to announce the winners of our Poetry and Essay Contest. It was a proud moment to hear our members share their original works.

• Contest Winners: The first-place winners in both categories were awarded a special celebratory meal at “Meet & Eat.”
• Mother of the Year: We honored our “Mother of the Year” with a beautiful coffee set and a traditional shawl as a token of our appreciation.

Community, Music, and Connection

Following a warm lunch break, the energy in the room shifted to pure joy. Everyone joined in for a lively karaoke session, singing the beloved Turkish classic “Hayat Bayram Olsa” (If Life Were a Celebration). It was a beautiful moment of unity that echoed throughout the hall, celebrating our shared heritage through music.

Games and Surprises

Laughter was the theme of our afternoon competitions:

• The Balloon Game: A fun and spirited competition where the winner walked away with a wonderful surprise gift.
• The Mummy Wrap Contest: One of the most hilarious moments of the day! Two winning teams (four people in total) received special prizes for their speed and creativity.

Honoring Our Generations

One of the most touching parts of our program was recognizing the different generations within our community:

• Our Respected Elders: We presented elegant coffee sets to our senior members to thank them for their wisdom and presence.
• New Mothers: We also celebrated a friend who recently stepped into motherhood with a special gift set, welcoming her to this new chapter.

Creative Workshop and Grand Finale

To give everyone a lasting memory to take home, we held a “Build Your Own Bouquet” (DIY) workshop. Guests enjoyed designing their own floral arrangements, showcasing their personal style. The celebration concluded with music and dancing, leaving everyone with bright smiles and cherished memories.
